TX Election Judge Resigns After Berating Voter Trying To Find Polling Place

An election judge and supervisor in Williamson County, Texas resigned after a video taken Friday showed her berating a voter who was seeking information about where to vote.

“Get out! Get out! Get out! You are rude. You are not following the law,” Williamson County election judge and supervisor Lila Guzman is seen yelling at the unidentified voter in the video, which was obtained by local station KVUE. Williamson is then heard in the video threatened to call the police.

“Our supervisor loses her composure in the middle of this, and that’s not something that we ever train our poll workers, supervisors, election judges and clerks to do,” Williamson County Elections Administrator Chris Davis told KVUE.

Davis told the network that the voter in the video being yelled at by Guzman was in fact registered in Williamson County, though she lived in Travis County. Davis said the voter should have been sent to the Travis County Elections Division to vote on a limited ballot.

“I regret that that incident happened with that poll worker because that voter was just trying to get answers that weren’t being provided to her in a way that we train our poll workers to give,” Davis told KVUE.

The unnamed woman who recorded the video told KVUE that the voter in the video “did have an accent, she could have been new to the country, I don’t know, but she needed some help.”

Guzman, reached by KVUE, said that rathe r than resigning because of her recorded outburst, she was stepping down because, in the network’s words, “Davis’ office did not provide backup when she called the office to have police remove the voter from the building.”
