WATCH: 'SNL' cast member mocks former Navy SEAL and GOP candidate for the way he looks On Mondayâs â Pat Gray Unleashed ,â Pat...
On Mondayâs âPat Gray Unleashed,â Pat discussed a joke on NBCâs âSaturday Night Liveâ over the weekend by cast member Pete Davidson about Texas Republican congressional candidate Dan Crenshawâs appearance.
What did Davidson say?
Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL, was deployed five times to Afghanistan. On his third deployment in 2012, he was injured by an IED blast that caused him to lose his right eye and nearly blinded him.
In an effort to get a few laughs, âSNLâ cast member Pete Davidson took a cheap shot at Crenshaw for wearing an eye patch over his right eye.
âYou may be surprised to hear heâs a congressional candidate for Texas and not a hitman in a porno movie. Iâm sorry. I know he lost his eye in war, or whatever. Whatever,â Davidson said.
Pat lamented that Davidson wasnât mocking Crenshaw for his policies, he was mocking Crenshaw because of the way that he looks and it wasnât funny. It was hate.
What did Dan Crenshaw have to say?
Many on the political left and right have come out and said that NBC owes Crenshaw an apology for the tacky joke, however, on Sunday, Crenshaw took to Twitter and had this to say.
âGood rule in life: I try hard not to offend; I try harder not to be offended. That being said, I hope @nbcsnl recognizes that vets donât deserve to see their wounds used as punchlines for bad jokes.â
In a cellphone video, Crenshaw said our country could sta nd to benefit from people refraining from demanding apologies from others for every little thing that may be deemed offensive by the public.
Pat asserted that Crenshaw displayed honor and integrity and that we could all learn something by watching the way that Crenshaw handled himself in this particular situation.
