President Trump said Monday morning that CNNâs poll indicating that his approval rating is historically low is a âsuppression poll.â
âSo funny to see the CNN Fake Suppression Polls and false rhetoric. Watch for real results Tuesday,â Trump posted to Twitter. âWe are lucky CNNâs ratings are so low. Donât fall for the Suppression Game. Go out & VOTE. Remember, we now have perhaps the greatest Economy (JOBS) in the history of our Country!â
CNN released a poll Monday shows Trumpâs approval rating standing at 39 percent on the eve of the 2018 midterm elections. The number is lower than that of any other president facing their first midterm election since Dwight D. Eisenhowerâs first midterms in the 1950s, according to CNN.
The poll, conducted in the first days of November, shows that 35 percent of likely voters strongly approve of the way Trump is handling the presidency, while 52 percent say they strongly disapprove of Trump.
CNN also found in its poll that Democrats hold a 13 percentage point advantage over Republicans in likely voters leading up to the midterms. The lead is mostly due to the large gender gap, with the majority of women favoring Democrats, CNN indicated.
