Nov 5, 2018 at 2:11 PM Nov 5, 2018 at 2:11 PMWASHNGTON â" Ohio Gov. John Kasich predicted Democrats will win the U.S. House of Representatives, âhave more power in the governorships across the country,â and the GOP will keep the Senate after tomorrowâs elections.
âThatâs what it looks like,â said Kasich, appearing on ABCâs âThe View,â Monday. âAnd why? Because a lot of people have said, âIâve had enough of this. Iâm not going to live my life with anger.â Kasich began what will be a spate of news appearances Monday by hinting yet again that heâs considering a third-party run for the White House in 2020.
Appearing on âThe View,â Kasich repeated his refrain that âall my options are on the table,â and admitted that the GOP nomination for 2020 is âlocked downâ right now because of President Donald Trump.
âI think for the first time thereâs a legitimate chance for a third party candidate, because the Republicans are on the extreme and the Democrats are on th e extreme and thereâs a big wide open space in the middle,â Kasich said. âAll my options are on the table and I just want to contribute.â
Kasich said were he to run now, he might be able to win New Hampshire, but then would go south and âget blown out.â
âI donât want to do that,â he said. âI donât want to waste my familyâs time or my friends or my resources. It has to be something legitimate that will have an impact on moving this country in the right direction.â
He was yet again sharply critical of Trump, saying âwe cannot have leaders who divide us and cause fear,â and said Trumpâs last-minute campaign rhetoric is a âterrible strategy for our country, to dish out fear in order to achieve something. There ought to be some ethical limits to what you will do when you are involved in a campaign.â Trump is appearing in Cleveland Monday afternoon.
Kasich will appear at 4 p.m. on MSNBCâs âDeadline: White Houseâ with Nicoll e Wallace, 8 p.m. on CNNâs âAC360â with Anderson Cooper and 11 p.m. on Comedy Centralâs âThe Daily Show with Trevor Noah.â
