Captain Marvel Star Brie Larson Reveals New Image Urging Fans To Vote

Email Copy Link Copied

Brie Larson, aka the MCU's Captain Marvel, is encouraging everyone to get out there and vote in the 2018 U.S. midterm election tomorrow, via a new image. With just four months to go until Captain Marvel's March 2019 release, the actress obviously has other things on her mind. But she still makes time to promote the movie when it's for a good cause.

Larson portrays Carol Danvers in the MCU's first female-led film. The movie will see the young airforce pilot as she grows up and is later taken in by the Kree people. Taking place in the 1990s, the film will show Danvers back on Earth, confused as to her identity, and joining forces with young S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Nick Fury and Phil Coulson. Though she hasn't yet shown up onscreen (despite her logo's appearance in the final end credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War) Larson hasn't shied away from expressing her excitement over the role. She's donned the merchandise, read the comics, and given us glimpses behind-the-scenes, including a look at the military training she went through in order to play the character.

Now, Larson is putting a different kind of message out there with a simple tweet. Larson took to her Twitter account to share the image below, featuring her in her green Starforce uniform. The photo shows Larson standing in a very 90s-esque pay phone booth, surrounded by Rock the Vote signs, and is captioned by a plea from the actress for her fans to exercise their right to vote. Check out her original post below.

This type of political message isn't out-of-character for Larson. She's used her role as the MCU heroine to share her passions in the past, including fan art of her as Rosie the Riveter for International Women's Day. The actress doesn't shy away from sharing her political opinions, but made this message a specifically nonpartisan one, simply telling people to get to the polls and vote, regardless of party affiliation. And just like the character she plays, she doesn't back down when critics hound her: after internet trolls complained that Captain Marvel should smile more after the release of the film's trailer, she shot back by sharing photoshopped images of her fellow Avengers sporting big awkward smiles.

Fans clamoring to see more of Larson as Captain Marvel shouldn't worry - there's plenty more to come. In addition to (hopefully) more images to be shared on social media, another trailer is no doubt on its way, as is the first look at Avengers 4. After her film debut in March, she'll return less than two months later to presumably play a pivotal role in the final film of MCU Phase Three.
